The Zoomy Weekend

March 14...we set out to Irvine on our nice Aveo rental and our Selma, ultimate GPS (semi-annoying) commander; Selma we discovered is equipped with an arrival time which equates to a challenge in cutting travel time (think flying, again)...woke up to fried eggs and a game of basketball just a holding hands and swinging hands distance away from my parents' home, made a quick pass by at officially my (and Dave's)favorite place in the South -- The Cerritos Library -- before encountering the pseudo-Knights of Medieval Times (an actor's entry level gig, at least, where our conniving Green Knight is concerned), not handwashing before the silverware-less meal is a bit of a concern, plague comes to mind; however, the peasant server has a thing for Dave, so, he gave Dave two of every food items (just kidding--said peasant gave us double) and we had a satisfied dream tonight until the morning when after breakfast we decided to take a walk in the park without a thought and a bath; you can smell us wafting through the gazebo and the bridge; as we're still not feeling the itch, my dad decided we go to Huntington Beach straight in our morning smelly essence, and rented a couple of bikes, just D and I; not that much peeps since the inaccurate weather forecast turned most of them away, it was pretty much a nice day except for the wind which blew the sand in our dirt ridden bodies anyways, and which I swore to the wind for making us fight on its opposing direction, Ihop energy sounded a right energy relief as we go back home and collapsed on the couch, whew...

March marked what I consider unfortunately an Accident Month...

Three of those related to me encountered them in one week -- Aunt D, my sister Joy, and my sis-in-law. The accidents -- A motorcycle got swiped from behind by a repeat offender, one car got flipped over three times by a big rig (and the truck ran away), and, one hit a parked car after falling asleep at the wheel. I will let you make the match. But all's good at the end, they just came out it with a few bumps and bruises...

Got Sweded

I made use of Dave's last $1 movie ticket last week to watch my idol Michel Gondry's latest "Be Kind Rewind". Before anything else, there's something about normal movie watching that's making me pukey because of directors wanting to hold the camera sans tripod. This happened to me in the last Bourne movie and almost with this one. But it could be the staggering price or the flood of butter of popcorn, but I digress...

Anyway, to the five of us watching(literally, that's two couples and me), I felt that the director is trying to sell his directorial style and package it to what is the current catchphrase called "sweded", all the while running thin on the storyline. The movie might have worked if it was shown like eight years earlier at the advent of DVD. But then the director might want to empathize to the lots of us old timers, which is kinda like salt rubbing on the wound, yeah, I get it we're old and gullible to sentimental things... The other thing is there would be no existence of the 'sweded' concept, which is a big part of the storyline. Of course, there is also Jack Black, and he did exceptionally well as usual. But if you need a bit of a tip, just take the movie for what it is -- entertainment. I do remain a fan.

Here's an MTV from years ago that bears his style for the Fats Waller documentary in the film as well as the directing style the character Jack Black did with his "sweded" movies. Check out the official site, too. The "Lord of the Rings" one looked funny.

One Box and Our "Home" is Complete

It will take $7 a month to live with a cable box in our room. The prison is complete, furnished with some On Demand programs and a limited amount of movie channels. So, it's like Netflix with no DVDs I really have a pathetic excuse not to blog. But since D and I shifted to life in Thriftsville, I should have devoted more time and words to define my existence. Instead, I became a Hulu junkie, satisfying my curiosity on shows that I would pay less attention to, like "Roswell". There I said it...

So, as I go back to my show let me leave you with this random pic which I thought was mildy amusing...

Found on the Web

In light of those Superbowl ads I can't help but break into Haddaway when I saw this on MSN. "What is love...baby don't hurt me...don't hurt me no more..."
