Don't Say I Didn't Warn You

So I went home last night after work to find my usual parking space on the street occupied. I have to park on the neighbor's spot on the right side of our house. Our subtle neighbor claimed it's okay to park in there when his true intentions lie on the trash cans planted between the space and the space. Thank God I have a small car, I only have to ponder with placing my car on which side of the 'space'. It's always a struggle when you have unfortunate street mates.

The windows all over our house have to be replaced, therefore the blinds were removed including the large window in front of the house looking out at the street. Imagine my surprise when I found Elijah (not his real name) touting a large rifle and showing it off to this other guy, the person who took my parking spot. It's like viewing scene at some NRA branch office and not a benevolent suburban neighborhood. My heart gave a nervous skip. When I went inside I was introduced to two more figures. The rifle owner's wife and their little girl who was looking up at her daddy looking at the unloaded gun and I'm like what is this, a standoff waiting to happen? Sincerely, they're a nice looking cast of characters in a bowling for columbine-sque kind of way. (as a form of footnote though, these are activities of legal owners of firearms, and in no way should a righteous mind rant on me for just relating these incidents and not do anything. The scene can also be viewed by any passerbys. And I did not see any police cars pull in front of the house)...Anyway, Elijah got a deal with the rifle and went on with the details of describing such rifle, the bullets, the mounting scope which just creeps me out deeper and deeper. I am not a gun person but I don't protest having a gun around the house, it just scares me. The rifle has taken place of Elijah's magnum which he properly disposed of. Umm, that makes me a little safer now, I guess.

Later on Tach, my landlord, pulled me up to his rooftop to take a picture of the sunset. It was an impressive photo opportunity from that spot where he set up his tripod. I can't help but feel the Filipino neighbors laughing somewhere inside their house. I guess this is something new to them. Another thing i found out is that the roof is about the same level as the track and field of the school located behind our house. For a while I was afraid for Tach because I won't be able to grab 200lbs of him, knock on wood. But he was able to get good pictures.
