It Was Raining Already, I Might As Well Be Singing
When I attended C's birthday and New Year's party I had my firsthold of the phenomenon that is Magic Sing. Okay, okay, it's not my first but definitely it's not the last. MS is a videoke microphone sans the machine. The music is programmed into the microphone, so, all you have to do is type in the number and you're ready to sing your heart out.
Magic Sing is an exemplary model of progressive human evolution. It narrows the gap between the posh talent, the average singer and the poor out of tuner. Who knows, one day human will build a tolerance for all sounds -- pleasant or unpleasant. The survival of the fittest aspect comes into play, too. For example, given a social scenario, the person who doesn't participate in singing likely ends up in obscurity and shrinks from the party world. I am afraid, so afraid... I am by nature a very quiet creature but, as if by miracle, whenever I grasp the microphone (ever so hoggingly) the fine line between shyness and civility is suddenly non-existent. And I am not even drunk but I was 'convinced' that I was a good singer. Maybe that's why they call it magic sing, hmmmm...
I also believed that one day this invention will be our answer to world peace, although I'm not sure how at this point. In the meantime, humankind will have to savor videoke-related violence, mostly about annoyed neighbors stabbing 'singers' who are feeling out Frank Sinatra tunes.
