Why the Pool is Blue

I watched "Swimming Pool" on cable last night. This is one of those movies that has a big reveal on the end but it will leave you guessing how or what really happened. It is the story of a mystery writer who isolated herself in a French countryside with a roomy chateau and obviously, a pool. Writing would have been unperturbed if not for the sudden presence of a blonde teenager who is the publisher's daughter. They developed an animosity and later a strangely curious albeit an almost subtle erotic attraction on the side of the female writer. It stars Ludivine Saugnier (not sure about the spelling) whose other English movie credit is the wholesome "Peter Pan" as Tinkerbell (two really extreme genres here). "Swimming Pool" would rub off as a mystery chick flick if not for Ludivine's breasts which was present in most of the scenes. Plus, there is also a scene where her character tinkers with her bell if you know what I mean. I also got curious about the camera work on the writer, because it keeps panning left and right as she types her story and leaves you all to wonder if it's deliberate or not... Over all it is a very interesting movie which could even pass off as a short feature, only the director is very intent on developing the relationship of the two characters.

I got myself into a pool, too, this weekend. Nuff said.
