Misusing Karma
The statement in itself doesn’t exist…for as far as mere mortals live we cannot wish someone to have karma bestowed upon them. Such as this misunderstood article I had read this morning. Author of said article has been bitchin’ upon subject who has wronged said first person. The fury unleashed included but not exclusive to some online character bashing (a strategy most likely inspired by juveniles from Myspace), some stalking and taunting. And just to be on the safe side he/she will steer “karma” in the picture so as to make the action seem like a normal consequence for messing with the wrong person. I found this to be a little amusing and sad at the same time. First of all, I think the word that’s applicable here is called revenge. Second, one cannot reel in karma and will it to do its work for a certain situation. I believe Higher-ups don’t hire contractors to do their jobs. Third, karma works when a person wronged doesn’t do anything but lets the natural course of action takes place and waits around (or not) for the two-fold return of the deed (to happen), whether it is good OR bad. If the aggrieved person doesn’t go looking for any omnipotent intervention to come around and punish the person who committed the crime, then the former has done an admirable value called forgiveness.
Example of a right use of karma:
A man lost his son in the 2004 tsunami. He thinks this is his karma from god when he committed something bad in the past.
Angelina Jolie.
Wrong use of karma:
I, love ice cream, support,, ice cream month,
Karma Chameleon (i still don't know what the song meant, but it's catchy)
The man who lost his son lived in Sri Lanka and is a Buddhist. Therefore, he has street cred to use the word as it applies to his religion. In the realms of Christian world the word is called ‘Matthew 7:12’ (yeah, just a quick google will work). So, yeah, I realized I’ve been ranting on the misuse of the word but it will end here. There’s a lot of world waiting out there for me…I will go Earl Hickey-ish here in a zip, I hope I still have time.

i wish my mom could read this. you don't know how deeply she revolves her life around that word (and its more genteel cousin, comeuppances). i mean, c'mon!
people SAY it's karma when they FIND OUT about it. if you did something bad and you live to a ripe old age, nobody says 'hey, karma doesn't work on you.' but if something bad DID happen, it's instantly karma. no reasoning around it. what. the. hell!?
anyway nice post, ate. i'll be sure to keep reading. :) and yes, we're still working on those visas for you're wedding ;)
sorry, not " you're wedding", but "your wedding".. gaaahd, I hate it when I do that, and to think I wanna be a writer..
Comeuppances---hehehe, sounds ethereal...not.
I'm just surprised you'd follow up on that one glib. It's no problem, dude, we are all entitled to some mistakes, writers or otherwise. I'm still looking forward to your sci-fi novel okay...keep 'em coming. And yeah, that trip, too.
