Fire the Costumers

Hoy! There was a free Pinoy concert last Friday at the SF Civic Center. TFC (the self-proclaimed Filipino cable) featured their latest young talents for one night -- "Stars-in-a" something winners Sarah Geronimo, Eric Santos, Rachelle Ann Go, Mark and Christian Bautista, called "Night of the Champions". On a terrifyingly free concert you would expect the aggressive starstruck crowd flocking in front. My height is really my disadvantage, so, fighting for a spot isn't an option. Aside by the time I came there the people were almost getting rowdy. So i sought the next good spot, the grassy area by the big screens for the more relaxing, music appreciative crowd who just want to spend a nice Friday night. I met an old lady, whose husband got a seat on the handicap section, and three middle-aged women with highlights on their hair. These were the people I formed solidarity with for this night. One of the highlighted lady gave us free fishballs and dilis to snack on, yummy.

The teen singers were all good, excellent is more like it. And what is good is they sang more local cover songs than foreign ones (more of Martin Nievera, Gary V, Regine, Zsa Zsa). Aside from the almost perfect spiels, music and charm factor the only thing that flawed this concert were the dresses worn by the artists. There's nothing wrong with the gowns and the casual leathers, that is exactly the costumer's oversight. In this cold and windy San Francisco weather, the not yet acclimated kids, for lack of a better term, were freezing their asses off. Rachelle almost gave up on her script because her teeth chattered uncontrollably. One host even asked if the audience was even cold, well, duh. The costumer, who would probably have a dozen or so dresses in their pretty wardrobe trailer, didn't even think of saving these poor kids by getting them cozy clothes. So, just to sum up the concert, again (CUT AND PASTE THE TITLE LINE HERE)
