Craigslist?
I just saw that the Manila craigslist was up. It is so empty, it's like a mere 25 million* just doesn't feel the need to commune. Where's the love? Is it because first, we are already crammed a country as it is and the grassroots approach is the best option? Second, by culture, we are really private people who would rather advertise ourselves on Friendster. Three, we are so poor that a free stuff posting is not really an option. Four, we are so poor that we don't have computers and furnitures which totally contradicts reason number 2. Five, we are so MMS advanced that instead of ranting and raving we'd rather bluetooth our way to watch some scandalous cellphone soft-porn videos and pictures. Six, we have cellphones, which also contradicts the poor issue. Seven, our idea of personal ads mean prostituting ourselves to the world, and as a religious nation it's a totally indecent activity to be involved with (thus, we would rather have Friendster). And eight, I forgot that it was totally new. I'll give this a few months and see if a pattern starts to emerge, but I hope I am not right from the get-go.
PS If you get annoyed by my snarky remarks don't worry, it's not your issue. At least I got more than comment about my wrong choice of words. Like I said before I know my limits.
*i'm not a statistician, but it's my estimated bulk of the population who have at least an access to a computer or who has one.
