An Animal Weekend
Coyote
Finally, a weekend with nothing but a whole lotta greens and a view of the windy San Francisco Bay. As planes eagerly landed on the strip, Superdave and I set up our improvised picnic stuff at Coyote Park toting a modest fast food meal and a leche flan dessert. Everything else is a relaxing eye candy--windsailers, kiddie parties on the park picnic benches, cloudless skies and beach swimmers. Although, the place has a no pets policy slight dried poops littered the field. I'm not sure if the nearby SPCA (SPay CAts, i'm kidding...) let their animals roam out at night or the pet owners habitually drive thru and get this notion that the massive field transforms into a free-for-all bathroom as soon as the park closes.
Grasshopper
It just flew in to Mitchell's Ice Cream, and it's not going away for another three months. So, I have my faraway friend from Fremont (which is like 20 or so miles away) try this BOB (Best of the Bay) treat. Well, he never liked mint anyway, I was projecting it onto myself. It's been a while, too, since I have satisfied my Mitchell's fix; but visiting folks shouldn't miss this. They adopted Filipino flavors and some Filipino desserts like Halo-halo and made it their own. It's funny to have a Pinoy-taste place with a foreign owner. Unlike Coyote Park this is a pet-friendly environment. Since the place encourages eat and run, the only purpose for pet lovers here is to eat their desserts and show-off their dogs.
Lions and Tigers and Bears
and Giraffes and Apes and Hippos Oh My
For the second time in a year I went to SF Zoo. I don't know about you but all the animals there seemed so sad, or was it just me looking at their condition that made me think, that is so sad. I noticed the fine line here between a child and an adult, the magical happy place and harsh reality. I do wish I spent more time at the zoo when I was a kid. I think I visited Manila Zoo only once in my childhood and the clearest memory of my visit there an elephant was being given a bath from a garden hose.
Kitten
Tila has become frisky lately. It seemed that everytime I visit her it's always playtime for her, and that my presence undeniably gives her an all-around freedom to bite and claw my hands.
