Some Random Doings
A Call to a Friend
I have been toting this phone/address book from '97. Since the advent of cellphones and palm pilots, address books have become an artifact of the past. I had my past calling out from those pages. But my battered book never seemed to get filled up anyway. I decided this is the perfect night to do the cumbersome job of copying the numbers from my cellphone to my phone book. Trust me, you want to do this one day. I was entering my first name starting with "A" when I had the compulsion to call that person and see what she's up to. So, I dialed my friend named Aimee in Manila and she answered almost in an instant. Aims aka Pinky goes by the name Mrs. Escasa lately. I just couldn't believe my luck when we enjoyed a good few minutes catching up stories from two years. I have to cut short because I don't want my impulsiveness to turn into shock later (ie my monthly phone bill). If Pinks has any luck reading this, I promise I will call or IM you.
Pixielan Productions (remember the name, just because)
Congratulations again. Next name on my phone list is also in Manila, um, maybe later...
Tokyo Godfathers
The movie I regretfully missed last year, I finally watched the enchanting anime "Tokyo Godfathers" about three homeless bums - a runaway teen, a transvestite and an alcoholic, who found a newborn baby in a dump. They decided to find the mother of the child which implied going thru a lot of misadventures and wacky characters but in the end their sacrifice gets paid off in a big way. It's kind of interesting for me, too, religiously-speaking, because the story parallels (hmmm) to the biblical travel of the Three Kings who sought for our future Savior bearing gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh (think I would forget that did you?). This is a perfect Christmas movie for me aside from Charlie Brown's Christmas, about how I need to be reminded how really blessed I am just to be living period. Watch for the funky rendition of Beethoven's Symphony #9 in the end credits (in Japanese, of course).
Nicole-lodeon
There's a difference between Nicole Kidman then and Nicole Kidman now, just watch "Dead Calm". As I was blabbing this, my observation caused an uncalled for spat with this person I was talking on the phone. This is because the person liked Tom Cruise. Alright, so, the argument was what channel are you on?
