Finally, A Second Movie

Life has been tough without an escape. Finally, I got my chance yesterday but not without a hitch. D's car broke down and we have to call a towing service to drive it back home. I was too excited to ride my first tow truck than be embarrassed by being spotted riding IN a tow truck.

The movie was called "The Prestige" and I wanted to bonk Christopher Nolan's head for creating another mind boggling film, meant to be an intellectual dissection than to entertain. At least I figured out one thing in the plot (something about Christian Bale's character, love that man). Coincidentally, I was reading a book (more like a tome) that's also about rival magicians, different author. It's called "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell". But the movie is worth.every.penny. and I mean you will need a DVD guide to understand this one. If I were to go beyond describing the plot of the story ,other than it's about two rival magicians, then I would spoil it for you. That's a trick, too.

Hi ate!

1.) Went to Joy's wedding (yahoo!) We missed you there. :) Lots and lots of people sang for the couple (kuya jem did six or seven beatles numbers with singles-for-christ buddies). It was also my first time to go to Paco Park & Church - it's a really nice place with all the lights set up like that! It's a quiet, meditative place. Plus all the kids had a lot of room to romp around without bothering the adults. Nakakatawa si Kuya Jem at Ate Raelan, one eye on the stage and one eye on the kids haha! Sina Tito Momie and Tita Hya laugh trip nung inintroduce, parang mga politicians, with matching 'victory' hand signs! :)

2.) The Prestige is one of my favorite movies for this year. The fact that it's revealed to be sci-fi at the very end.. it's fantastic. Though I have to say Chris Nolan is two for three with me.. I didn't like 'Memento' that much, though that part where future events meets past events and black and white blends with color to form the present was worth a nod.

Seems I missed a lot of fun, tsk tsk... No pics for me yet.

Memento is great, Prestige is something else. I read in some boards that the sci-fi part might be a trick, too. But that's how Nolan always want to end things, with you making up your own conclusion and interpretation of the story.
