It Must B Snoring

I noticed I haven't written for a while. No particular reason why I stopped, I must have forgotten it was here. {time for more profile views}. Well, I try to gain some reading mileage out of the commuting boredom. If you cared to look at my wish list before at Amazon.com, you'll probably notice that most of the books I wanted are almost gone. That's because I procured most of them out of sheer luck and chance (i.e. there's a sale, and it was my birthday and gift card at Border's is the no-brainer, pun intended, gift from someone who knew me). I just finished 'Freakonomics' which is a hip approach to the boring but somewhat interesting piece of social science; trust me, it's a page turner. Then there's 'Pirates!: In An Adventure with Scientists', a funny book which I read with the twinge of guilt for glorifying criminals of olden days (maybe not).

Here is a condensed version of my birthday:

-Lunch at Mi-taki with co-workers
-Dessert at Wolfgang Puck's (only two slices of cake for the benefit of the weight-conscious)
-Dinner at Cheesecake Factory at Westminster with parents; bistro dining near the fountain. Never gave the Elizabeth Hasselbeck look-alike server the chance to sing to me. I'm too shameful of my age.

There's much more reason to celebrate birthday leave two days after that, hubby delivered the gifts personally. We went to Legoland to re-live our younger days, for surely that would be the common opinion when two adults went there without toting any kids...a little awkward, but then, there's mini-golf. And hey, it's also our first time, so put on the what-do-we-know face, right?

"Sweet Annabel..."

Oceanside seemed like an ignorable place since it's very much like the rest of the coastal towns that is not as famous as San Diego. A quick google revealed it has the longest pier in America. I think it looked like a mile long. And I did not deliberately book a motel there to create an affinity with the town. It is cheaper and lodgings at Carlsbad are already full. But there is a certain quaintness and old world feel about it (with the exception of the surrounding trailer homes). The beach is really clean and inviting(and not crowded!) that Dave and I took the down time to do some sketches.

This is the Oceanside lighthouse. It remains hippy with the bar below it and an endless supply of fish and chips. (not sure about the functional part, though) © byflyer 2006

However, just I was beginning to like the place I came home with my souvenir -- my first parking ticket. Tis such a shame to end the romance this way.

BJ,

I don't have the pic of the pier but it's looong and no yachts can dock in there because it's in the deep part of the sea already. Waves are stronger that's why some surfers abound.

Wag kang pahuli, go to the exhibit dude and buy something while you're at it :-)) j/k.
