The Earthquake Factor 2

And a few weeks later the earthquake here was outshadowed by the stronger earthquake in the Philippines. Friday night at 10:36 pm, my older sister, Ate Jean, felt it. She was out and the land moved sideways at 6.6. My brother and my youngest sister, both in their 20s, were sleeping at that time. What? Snoozing 10:30 on a Friday night?! Now that's a rocker... Something you should know about the island, it's located in the ominous Ring of Fire, therefore, earthquakes (strong ones, too) are not uncommon. The same island had another earthquake at 6.2 two weeks ago, the difference was tonight's quake was longer by 30 seconds. It wasn't a record but it was long, the 1990 big one was at 7.7 and I never felt it for crying out loud. The earthquake of '97 at 7.0 was the one I felt and it was hella creepy, as the land shook both ways, side and vertically.

I almost felt like a homeowner for two weeks. Now that my two roomies went out to see the world, I was home alone. My landlord did encourage me to party and he gave me wine, but my nose was in the books and he knew that I won't actually be enjoying the time (read the last 2 sentences again, i feel a poem coming on, uhuh uhuh). Now that my midterm is over I will only savor three days of quiet freedom. Tadah.
